Filing an official claim with a payment provider such as PayPal, your credit card company, or your bank has direct consequences for the handling of your case with Celtic WebMerchant. While you certainly have this right, we recommend always contacting us directly first for a quicker resolution in case of issues.
A payment claim is essentially intended as a last resort for situations where you cannot reach an agreement with the other party; therefore, it is more efficient to engage with us first.
When you initiate a claim, the following occurs:
- Order paused: The order is immediately blocked in the system and temporarily paused.
- No direct refund: We can no longer issue a direct refund from that moment, as the amount is held by the payment provider.
- Handling via the provider: The entire handling of the dispute is conducted through the payment provider. All communication and evidence must be submitted via their platform.
- Start postal investigation: If it concerns a delivery, an official postal investigation is immediately initiated with the delivery service to legally establish the status of the package.
- Longer process: Handling via a claim usually takes significantly longer than direct contact. Payment providers often have fixed response times of several weeks, which means we cannot expedite the process. We also cannot simply cancel the claim or exert any other influence on the process.
