Why do I find the same product on another website for a much lower price?
There are two reasons why a price on another website might be much lower. It could be a fake website (scam) or a non-professional seller. If a price seems too good to be true, it usually is.
How can I spot a fake website?
Fake websites try to steal your money without delivering any products. You can recognize a fake website by these signs:
- The banners: Images and banners on the website look fake or are made by AI.
- No reviews: There are no real customer experiences (reviews) to be found.
- The address: The contact details often show a residential house or a hotel instead of an actual business location.
- Strange texts: The texts contain lots of mistakes or are poorly translated by AI.
Why are prices sometimes lower at other legitimate businesses?
Sometimes people sell (a selection of) our products from a closet in their own home. They do this alongside another job. Celtic WebMerchant does not support this, because this way of working is not professional.
- Availability: These sellers often only respond when they have time.
- No experience: They often have no experience solving problems or handling complaints.
- You often have no rights as an online customer: It will say something like ‘we are not a webshop with a return policy’ or similar.
- Harm to the hobby: By drastically lowering prices, professional stores with staff can disappear. This is bad for the future of the larp and reenactment community.
How does Celtic WebMerchant set its prices?
We set our prices responsibly. This means the price is fair for four groups:
- The customer: We keep the barrier to entry for our hobby as low as possible.
- Our staff: The price ensures our employees can live a normal life and earn a fair wage.
- Our culture: The price allows us to keep going and protect the larp and reenactment culture.
The makers: The people who make the products earn their living from this as a full-time job.
