Why are the shipping costs at Celtic WebMerchant higher because I live on an island?

For shipments to islands, carriers often charge an extra fee on top of the standard rate. This is due to the following reasons:

  • Additional logistics: Shipping to an island usually requires extra steps, such as using a ferry or a plane.
  • Carrier surcharge: These extra costs are passed on to us directly by the shipping services (like UPS or DPD) as an "island surcharge."
  • Remote area: Islands are classified by logistics companies as hard-to-reach areas, which affects the price.

When you enter your address and zip code in the shopping cart, our system will automatically calculate if an island surcharge applies to your location.
