What is the difference between returns, damage/non-conformity, and warranty?

Return

A return means you send the product back because it wasn't what you expected after purchase.

This could be, for example:

  • You decided you don't want to keep the product
  • The product didn't meet your expectations
  • It looks different than it did in the photo
  • The size doesn't fit
  • The finish isn't what you hoped for

Damage / Non-conformity

This means the product is damaged or doesn't meet what you could reasonably expect.
The cause could be a manufacturing defect or damage during shipping.

Examples:

  • A part is loose
  • The product arrived damaged
  • The product has a manufacturing defect
  • The measurements of a clothing item don't match the size chart

Warranty

Warranty means the product turns out to be faulty during use.

Example:

  • A hairline crack in a sword blade during use
