What happens if I am not home at the time of delivery?

When the delivery person encounters a closed door, the next step depends on the policy of the specific delivery service in your region. Usually, one of the following options is chosen:

  • Delivery to neighbors: The delivery person tries to deliver the package to one of your immediate neighbors. In that case, the delivery person should leave a note in your mailbox (or give a notification in the app) indicating at which house number the product is located.
  • Delivery to a pickup point: If delivery to the neighbors fails or is not allowed, the package is taken to a nearby pickup point. You can often pick it up there the next business day with your ID.
  • New delivery attempt: Some carriers simply try again the next business day at your address.

Taking control yourself

Once you have received the tracking code from us, you can usually make changes via the delivery service's own website or app before the delivery person visits you. You can often indicate there that the package should be delivered directly to a pickup point, or specify a particular spot around the house where the delivery person may leave it (drop-off permission). We do not recommend drop-off permission, as it becomes difficult to get a refund if the package is stolen.

Important: The storage period

If your package ends up at a pickup point, pay close attention to the storage period (usually 7 days). If you do not pick up the package in time, it will automatically be returned to us. The extra shipping costs for resending your order will be at your own expense in that case.
