What happens if I start a payment but close the page?
The outcome depends on the exact moment the connection was lost. Don’t worry, in most cases this is easy to check.
Scenario 1: You closed the page before completing the payment
In this case, the transaction was not completed:
- The order was not placed.
- No money was taken from your account.
- Your shopping cart is saved, so you can easily start again.
Scenario 2: You closed the page after completing the payment
If you already confirmed the payment with your bank, but closed the Celtic WebMerchant website before you returned to the confirmation page:
- The payment was most likely successfully processed.
- Your order has been placed in our system.
- You’ll receive an order confirmation by email within a few minutes.
What should you do now?
Follow these three steps to avoid placing duplicate orders:
- Check your email: Look in your inbox (and spam folder) to see if you’ve received the order confirmation.
- Check your bank account: See if the amount has been deducted.
- Wait a moment: It can sometimes take up to 15 minutes for the automatic confirmation email to arrive.
When can you try ordering again? If you haven’t received a confirmation after 15 minutes and no money has been taken from your account, the order didn’t go through and you can safely try again.
