Can I place a VAT-free order as a business or foreign customer?

Yes, in certain cases you can place a VAT-free order. This depends on your situation:

If you are a business within the EU: If you are a business with a valid VAT number in an EU country other than the Netherlands, you may be able to order VAT-free through the reverse charge (intra-community transaction) scheme. To do this, you must:

  • Enter a valid VAT number during checkout
  • Your VAT number will be checked automatically
  • If the number is valid, no VAT will be charged
  • You are responsible for reporting VAT in your own country

Please note that some foundations also have a VAT number, but are not eligible for an intra-community transaction. In that case, VAT will be included in your order.

If you are a private customer within the EU: Private customers within the EU always pay VAT, regardless of the country of delivery.

If you are a customer from the United Kingdom: For orders under £135, the customer pays VAT to Celtic WebMerchant. For orders over £135, the customer pays VAT to the carrier. It is not possible for UK businesses to order VAT-free.

If you are a customer outside the EU: For orders shipped to countries outside the European Union, no EU VAT will be charged. Please note:

  • You may still have to pay import duties and VAT in your own country
  • These costs are your own responsibility
  • Check your country's import regulations

How do I enter my VAT number?
