Can someone else pick up my order at the pickup point?
Yes, in most cases someone else can pick up your package, but this depends on the rules of the delivery service and the specific pickup point in your country.
Here are the most common ways this can be arranged:
1. Authorization via the tracking link or app
Many major delivery services (such as UPS, DHL, or PostNL) offer the option to authorize someone else in their tracking environment. You then enter the name of the person who will pick up the package. They often receive a unique pickup code via email.
2. Provide your ID
At many local post points, it is sufficient if the person picking up the package can show the following:
- A (copy of) your ID: (Passport, ID card, or driver's license).
- Their own ID: So the staff can note who took the package.
- The tracking code: The barcode or shipment number of the order at Celtic WebMerchant.
3. Written authorization
In some countries or at stricter pickup points, a handwritten and signed note is required stating that person X (with ID number Y) is authorized to pick up package Z.
Important exceptions
- Package lockers: If your product is in an automatic package locker, there is usually no ID check. Anyone with the correct access code or QR code can open the locker. You can simply forward the code to a friend or family member.
- Identity check for weapon reproductions: For shipments under specific restrictions, the delivery service may have strict instructions to hand over the package only to the addressee in person ('Registered delivery'). In that case, no one else can pick it up for you.
Our advice
Always check the website of the local delivery service mentioned in the tracking. There you will find the exact requirements for pickup by third parties, so your friend or family member doesn't go to the store for nothing.
