I have given drop-off permission and my package is marked as delivered according to the tracking, but I can't find it?
It is very frustrating when the tracking indicates that your package has been delivered, but you cannot find the product anywhere. When you give official drop-off permission, the responsibility for the shipment changes.
This is what you need to know and do in this situation:
1. Risk of drop-off permission
It is important to realize that when you give the delivery service permission to leave a package at an agreed location (such as in the garden, a shed, or at the front door), the risk of loss or theft legally transfers to you as the recipient. The delivery service considers the shipment successfully delivered once it has been placed at the agreed location.
2. Check the delivery details
- Look at the delivery photo: Many delivery services now take a photo of the location where they left the package. Check the tracking link to see if a photo or specific description of the location has been added.
- Search thoroughly around your house: Sometimes couriers place packages out of sight to prevent theft, for example, behind a bin, under a canopy, or at the back door.
3. Contact the delivery service immediately
Since you made a direct agreement with the carrier about the delivery, they are your first point of contact.
- Ask the delivery service's customer service for the exact GPS coordinates of the delivery moment. This allows them to see if the driver was really at your address.
- If the package was left in the wrong place (for example, at the wrong house number), the delivery service can sometimes ask the driver to return.
4. What can we do?
Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse the package or do anything else for you because drop-off permission was given. From the moment you give drop-off permission, we are no longer responsible for the delivery of the package.
Tip for the future: If you live in a neighborhood where packages are easily visible from the street, it is better to choose delivery to a pickup point for your next order of a valuable product. This way, you can be sure it is safely waiting for you behind the counter.
