What if the repair costs of a damaged product are higher than previously agreed?
If a specific agreement has been made in advance regarding compensation for repair costs, that agreement is binding. When the final costs exceed this agreed amount, the extra portion is generally not reimbursed by us.
Here are the main rules we apply:
- Prior approval: We only reimburse repair costs for which you have received our explicit and written approval in advance.
- Fixed amount: If we agree to a repair, we often do so based on a predetermined amount or a maximum reimbursement. Costs exceeding this amount remain your responsibility.
- No reimbursement afterwards: Repairs carried out without consultation are not reimbursed. Moreover, in such cases, the right to further damage claims or replacement often lapses because the condition of the item has changed.
- Assessment: We always base our solutions — such as resending an item or a (partial) refund — on the unchanged condition of the product as shown in the photos you send us.
Our advice: If you notice during an agreed repair that the costs are higher than expected, please contact us again immediately before the work is completed. This way, we can determine together whether the repair is still the best solution.
