Why do I still have to pay costs, even if I received 'Free Shipping'?

It is important to understand the distinction between shipping costs (which you pay to Celtic WebMerchant) and handling fees (charged by a carrier for customs processing).

Free Shipping

When you order from Celtic WebMerchant for an amount that qualifies for free shipping, we cover the costs for transporting from our warehouse to your address. This includes the postage or freight amount from the carrier (such as UPS, FedEx, or PostNL).

Handling Fees of the Shipping Partner

In countries outside the European Union (such as the United Kingdom, the USA, or Norway), the shipping partner often charges additional fees for handling the import.

  • Import duties and VAT: The carrier often advances these amounts to customs to deliver your package faster.
  • Service fees: For this administrative action (clearing the package), the shipping partner charges its own fee, the so-called 'handling fee' or administration costs.

Important to know:

  • These handling fees are not part of the regular shipping costs.
  • Since this is a service fee from the carrier itself, these costs are not covered by Celtic WebMerchant's 'free shipping' policy.
  • The customer is always responsible for paying these costs to the shipping partner.
