Wat moet ik doen als ik verrast ben door importheffingen en niet wist dat Celtic WebMerchant in de Europese Unie gevestigd is?

It may happen that you are faced with additional costs for import duties or VAT upon delivery of your package. While we understand that this can be an unpleasant surprise, it is important to know how international regulations work.

Location of Celtic WebMerchant

Celtic WebMerchant is a Dutch company and is located in the European Union (EU). As webshops become increasingly international and serve customers worldwide, the physical location of a company is not always immediately apparent from the language of the website or the product range.

Customer responsibility

As a consumer, you have a duty to investigate when shopping internationally. This means that before placing an order, you must check for yourself in which country a company is located and what rules apply for the import of goods into your own country.

  • Location details: Our full address and location are always clearly stated in the footer (the bottom) of our website. They are also listed in the ‘Legal Notice’, ‘Contact Information’, and ‘Terms and Conditions’ at the bottom of the website.
  • Header mention: In the header of our UK website and the regional website versions outside Europe, it is clearly stated that we ship from the European Union.
  • Customs charges: When you order from a country outside the EU (such as the United Kingdom, the US, or Switzerland), you are legally considered the importer of the goods. The local customs will then charge fees over which Celtic WebMerchant has no control.

What can you do now?

When a package is already on its way or at customs, we can no longer reverse the charges or pay them for you. If you refuse the package due to the costs, the shipping, return, and storage costs incurred will be deducted from your final refund.
After deducting the aforementioned costs, it is often still more advantageous for you to pay the charges and receive the package.
