Who is responsible for the storage costs charged by customs or the carrier?
When a package crosses the border of the European Union, it may be held for inspection. If a package remains at customs longer than strictly necessary, storage fees may be charged. These costs are entirely the responsibility of the customer.
How to avoid extra costs?
To prevent delays and associated costs, quick communication is essential:
- Keep an eye on your mailbox: You will receive an email from the shipping company (e.g., UPS, FedEx, or PostNL) as soon as they need additional information from you for customs clearance.
- Respond immediately: If you do not provide this information in time, the package will be placed in secure storage. The costs for this increase daily and are at your own risk.
- Correct information: Did you enter an incorrect email address when placing your order? Then you will not receive the carrier's instructions. In this case, the risk also lies with the customer, as Celtic WebMerchant has no influence on the communication between the carrier and the recipient.
Important advice
As soon as you receive a track & trace code from us, we advise you to follow the shipment daily via the carrier's website. Notifications about customs processing often appear here before you receive an email.
